Intensive Programmes | Biotechnological application of fungi as biocontrol agents

Biotechnological application of fungi as biocontrol agents (BiotecFungi)

The intensive program on Biotechnological Application of Fungi as Biocontrol Agents (BiotecFungi) intends to provide knowledge in the application of fungi in different biotechnological processes to control insect pests, plant pathogens and weeds, and also to prepare students for job opportunities in this area. The intensive program (IP) will consist of a combination of field trips, lectures and lab classes, taught in English, at the School of Agriculture (ESA) - Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB). The course will be given by lecturers from three European institutions: Polytechnic Institute of Bragança - Portugal (www.ipb.pt), University of Cordoba – Spain (www.uco.es) and University of Hohenheim – Germany (www.uni-hohenheim.de). To ensure academic recognition of the studies undertaken within the IP, 6 ECTS credits will be given to students.

Bragança is a welcoming historical city in the Northeast of Portugal, with numerous ancient buildings and museums, where mountains and forests combine to create an attractive natural environment for students and staff. The best attractions include the Montezinho Natural Park, the Citadel, the Domus Municipalis, the Cathedral and the centre of the city (www.portugalvirtual.pt/_tourism/costaverde/braganca/ukcity.html).

In this program, students will also have the opportunities to interact with Portuguese and foreign students in a friendly and professional learning environment and to become an integral part of the IPB community and its urban setting. The international and cross-cultural composition of the student body is a vital feature of this program.

We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to the BiotecFungi course!
