The Erasmus programme is designed to support the creation of a European higher education space and to strengthen the contribution of higher education and advanced vocational education in the process of innovation across Europe. The Erasmus programme includes the following actions:
Students Mobility for Studies (SMS) and Placements (SMP);
Staff Teaching Assignments (STA);
Staff and Teachers Training (STT);
Erasmus Intensive Language Courses (EILC);
Intensive Programmes (IP).
The Erasmus programme is a subprogramme of the Lifelong Learning Programme for the period 2007-2013. During this period it is intended to:
Contribute to the development of a quality lifelong learning process and of the possibilities it offers;
Develop personal fulfilment, social cohesion, active citizenship and European citizenship;
Enhance creativity, competitiveness, entrepreneurship and employability;
Promote language learning and linguistic diversity;
Explore the results, products and innovative processes.
